The query builder feature empowers your agency to create deep links directly on your line card for manufacturer and product searches, making it easier than ever for users to find exactly what they need.
Build out your own collections to highlight manufacturers that excel in residential lighting, or ratings and compliance. Queries allow for quick access to specific products and manufacturers on your line card.
Queries can be created and displayed to show either manufacturer-based or product-based results, and you can decide whether to have the query for both or just one.
Manufacturer-based queries live at the top of the Manufacturer Search on the line card.

Once you click on a manufacturer tile, products specific to the query will appear – allowing even more customization! Clear the results to show all products for that manufacturer.

Product-based queries will show at the top of the Advanced Product Search on the line card. The queries section on your line card can also have a title, in the example below it shows as “Agency Picks’, but it can be titled whatever you’d like! Please reach out to [email protected] for this customization.

How to use the Line Card Query Builder:
Navigate to the left sidebar menu in The Lighting Exchange® portal to the Administration dropdown button, and click on ‘Line Card Query Builder’.

From this screen, you can start creating a new query by clicking on the ‘Add New Query’ button in the top right corner.

Add in a Query Name, then start building your query under the next section.
Choose to ‘Match Any of These” for a more flexible and robust query result, allowing manufacturers and products to show in your query that match some of the query rules but not all.
Choose ‘Match All of These’ for a stricter query, enforcing all of the rules that you entered to populate in the query
Click on the ‘Add Field’ button to start adding your rules.

In the first dropdown, choose the value for each rule from Product Type, Attribute Value, Product Name, Product Sub Name, Manufacturers, or Product Description.

In the second dropdown, choose ‘Tagged With’ to ensure the query includes the value you’ve chosen. Choose ‘Not Tagged With’ to exclude a value from appearing in your query.
In the far right dropdown, type ahead the name of the value you’d like to add. For example, if you choose Product Type in the first dropdown, you can put Pendants in the far right dropdown.

Add as many rules to your query as you’d like. Tailor your query even more by listing out specific products at the bottom of this screen under ‘Select Specific Products’.
Pro tip: Keep each rule separate with just one value per rule so that it’s easier to manage and allowing for more flexible search results. Don’t forget to save your new query!

To remove a manufacturer from showing in a product category in your query and on the line card, please visit the Manage Manufacturer Categories article.
Query Preview: To the right of this page, you’ll find additional tools. Preview your query by clicking on ‘Preview __ Products’. The order shown in the preview screen will be how it displays out on your line card, keeping in mind that Agency Picks will also show near the top.
Visibility: You can also decide if you’d like your query to show on your line card by choosing ‘Show’ or keep it in the portal-only by clicking ‘Hide’.

Sharing: Save your query first to access sharing capabilities. Click on the ‘Copy Relative URL’ button to copy the relative path. From here, you can paste the copied information into your existing website URL to create a direct link to your query. Use the link on social media platforms, through email or text, or even website navigation – driving traffic directly back to your query!

Once you’ve built out your queries, rearrange them by clicking on the hamburger menu next to the query name on the Line Card Query Builder main screen, and drag in the order of your choosing.
To edit an existing query, click the ‘Edit’ button next to each query, or hit the ‘Delete’ button to remove it altogether.

Please note that this feature does need to be turned on by The Lighting Exchange team on the backend in order for it to show on your line card.
If you would like to incorporate this feature onto your agency’s line card, or if you have any questions about the query builder, please join an Agency PRO Marketing training session via the Calendar of Events in the portal or email us at [email protected].
